Hell has really disappeared from the vocabulary of many sorry preachers. Hell is denied by many & preached by few, because it makes people uncomfortable. That is true. Hell has been reduced to a swear word, used by unbelievers when wanting to express their anger. Unbelievers have no hesitation to talk about hell and to verbally threaten people with it, while the church is reluctant to warn people not to go to hell, supposedly out of love and compassion and concern and a desire to be acceptable.

So while unbelievers have the word “hell” on their lips frequently, many preachers refuse to talk about hell. Scripture describes hell to produce in sinners fear, terror, and panic that drives them in the direction of repentance and faith in the gospel.
